What is it like to work with a Parenting Coach? | Jenn Abbatiello, Cycle Breaker Parenting Coach & Speaker

Raising kids is one of the most meaningful—and challenging—things you’ll ever do. And when things get hard, it’s not always clear where to turn.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by conflicting advice from experts, family, or even Instagram, you’re not alone. Parenting today can feel like a full-contact sport—full of noise, judgment, and pressure to get it "right."

Let me take a deep breath with you and say this clearly:

It’s normal to feel stressed. It’s normal to feel unsure.
But you don’t have to navigate this alone.

What Does a Parenting Coach Do?

A parenting coach works with you one-on-one to unpack your biggest parenting challenges and help you find personalized, sustainable strategies that actually work for your family.

Think of it like this: you hire a coach to grow your business, get in shape, or master a skill—why wouldn’t you have one for parenting, the most important job of your life?

When I tell people I’m a parenting coach, the response is often:
“Wait…what even is that?”

Fair question. And the truth is, parenting coaches aren’t new—we’ve just been quietly helping families thrive behind the scenes.

Coaching vs. Therapy: What’s the Difference?

Therapists help you heal from the past. Parenting coaches help you create a better future.

Coaching is a collaborative partnership. I’m not here to diagnose or label—I’m here to walk beside you as you build new patterns, shift old habits, and connect more deeply with your child.

We look at your values, your goals, and your unique parenting triggers—and then we roll up our sleeves and get to work.

If you or a family member is in crisis or facing mental health concerns, therapy is the right step. But many of my clients work with both a therapist and a coach, getting support from all sides.

Could a Parent Coach Help You?

Let me ask you:

  • Are you constantly second-guessing your parenting?

  • Do you find yourself yelling more than you'd like?

  • Are you and your partner not on the same page?

  • Do you feel exhausted from trying all the things—books, podcasts, social media—and still feel stuck?

If so, you’re not failing. You’re just ready for a new kind of support.

What’s It Like to Work with Me?

Most of my clients work with me over 90 days. Why? Because deep change doesn’t happen overnight.

We start with a Parenting Roadmap to understand your family’s patterns, your goals, and what you truly want for your child(ren). Then, each week, we build on that foundation—layering in tools, reflection, and practical strategies you can use right away.

You’ll leave each session with:

  • A clear focus

  • Actionable tools to practice at home

  • And a deeper sense of calm and clarity

We’ll troubleshoot what’s not working. Celebrate what is working. And build a parenting approach that’s rooted in connection, not control.

Why Not Just Google It or use ChatGTP?

You can. And maybe you have. But if Googling or ChatGTP were enough, most of us wouldn’t feel so stuck.

Working with a coach means having someone in your corner who can:

  • See what you can’t

  • Offer tailored strategies, not one-size-fits-all advice

  • Help you stay accountable and supported when things get hard

It’s not about adding more to your plate. It’s about finding ease.

What Does It Cost to Work with a Parenting Coach?

Prices vary. Coaching is an unregulated industry, so every coach sets their own rates.

In general, you can expect anywhere from $100–$250 per session, with package options available. I offer free discovery calls so we can see if it’s the right fit—no pressure, no pushy sales pitch.

How to Find the Right Parenting Coach

The most important factor? Trust and connection. You’re going to be sharing vulnerable parts of your life, so it matters that you feel safe, understood, and supported.

Look for a coach who:

  • Understands your unique challenges—not just from training, but from lived experience

  • Has experience working with parents like you (for me, that means high-achieving professionals who are juggling career ambition with the emotional demands of parenting)

  • Shares values that align with yours

  • Makes you feel seen—not judged

As a parenting coach, I bring both professional training and personal experience. I’ve sat in the boardroom... and on the bathroom floor wondering how I lost it again. I get what it’s like to lead at work but feel like you’re failing at home. That’s why I support high-achieving parents to lead with confidence in their families, too.

Most coaches offer a free discovery call—use it. Ask questions. Trust your gut. This work is too important to settle for someone who doesn’t really get you.
